What we feared happened … In his last apostolic letter, Pope Francis effectively cancels Motu proprio of his holiness Benedict XVI.
What will be the exact consequences of this letter? What are the bishops going to do, as Pope Francis’letter reminds that the bishops have authority ? No one knows it and that is why we must band together to show our strength and determination.
Young Roman Catholics, it is up to us to come forward and to keep this tradition alive. It is up to us to support the priests who celebrate this centuries-old liturgical treasure. It is up to us to demonstrate to the bishops that Catholic youth benefits from this Holy Mass. Also the Juventus Traditionis collectively reaffirms that it will be here to encourage, support and defend the Saint Pius V mass.
We remember a part of his holiness Benedict XVI’s letter to the bishops on the occasion in the context of the publication of the Pope Francis‘ apostolic letter “Motu proprio Data”.
There is no contradiction between the two editions of the Roman Missal. In the history of the liturgy there is growth and progress, but no rupture. What earlier generations held as sacred, remains sacred and great for us too, and it cannot be all of a sudden entirely forbidden or even considered harmful. It behooves all of us to preserve the riches which have developed in the Church’s faith and prayer, and to give them their proper place.
The Card. Sarah wrote today on twitter :
“Let us pray for a moment beside the large fresco by Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel. There he represented the Last Judgment. Let us kneel before the divine majesty. The saints are there, they carry the instruments of their martyr. ” The Day Is Now Far Spent
